OMDE 608 Reflection
Quite some time has passed since I've last written, as I have been taking my elective and specialization courses. The reflection on this course will not be structured the same as the others, as this course was not structured the same as the others. Learner Support in Distance Education and Training was a fun course that focused on the needs of the learners and the resources that could be dedicated to the students to meet those needs. The first half of the course was typical reading and discussion, but the second half of the course was all group centered. I loved this course because it truly gave us the opportunity to teach other, teach ourselves, and work in a group long-term.
The group project started with the task of choosing groups based on common interests so that we can write a case study on a real organization (with fictional elements as needed). So anyway, our groups name was "Strictly Business," as we were a group interested in corporate training. I was really excited to be able to work with these ladies because corporate training really became my interest. After introducing ourselves and appointing a leader, we decided, upon my recommendation, to do our case study on Hamburger University. HU is one of the world's most unique and popular corporate training institutions in the world and I was excited to dive into it (I've also decided to use the institution in my thesis). We worked together to put our case study away...well, at least we started off working together, but classmates started to drop off. We lost 2 group members to the struggles of adult education and another group member simply failed to pull her weight. At the end of the day, we put together a strong case, which I've placed in the artifacts page.
From that case, I wrote a response, which is also on that page. After diving into a real corporate training institution, I realized how much fun I thought I could have by working and consulting for similar institutions. At this point, I am seriously starting my job search for the perfect position!
