Welcome
Welcome to my ePortfolio. As a new and aspiring Instructional Designer, this page will feature a collection of my work, from both my academic and professional career.
I am a 2010 graduate of Howard University, Washington, D.C., with a B.B.A. in Marketing. I started my career in sales, but soon thereafter, realized where my passions really were--in training and education!
Therefore, I embarked on a new adventure, pursuing a Masters of Distance Education (MDE) at University of Maryland, University College. I chose a specialization in Teaching and Training to help me to focus on pedagogy and course development. During my matriculation through the program, I fell in love with Instructional Design and my only regret is that I was not able to take more design courses along the way.
When I began the MDE program, I was a High School Coordinator at a small, proprietary college in the Hampton Roads area. Working at a school that offers Distance Education (DE) courses opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that it creates for learners and instructors. My new education equipped me to take my role at the college to the next level. Developing Workplace Readiness Trainings for high school students was the highlight of my day.
Since graduating in 2014, I have held roles as Subject Matter Expect at a professional certification institute, where I worked on the design of a professional education course. I was also a Program Planner for the VBPCS Adult Learning Center where I worked with adult educators in offering various Community Education courses. I am proud to say that I have been able to walk away from my "jobs" and enter my CAREER. My ultimate career objective at this time is to obtain a full-time Instructional Design position designing professional training courses for top clients.
This website will showcase my work, my achievements, and even my struggles throughout my new career. So please, explore this site and visit often, as I hope to be adding new work soon!
Truly,
Courtney T. Johnson
